01 - 1.76 lb potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
02 - 1 medium onion, finely chopped
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced

04 - 7 oz Gruyère cheese, grated
05 - 6.8 fl oz heavy cream
06 - 1.06 tbsp unsalted butter, for greasing and dotting

07 - 5.3 oz cooked ham, diced

08 - 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
09 - 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
10 - 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
11 - Pinch of nutmeg

12 - 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
# Directions:
01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a medium baking dish with butter.
02 - Arrange half of the sliced potatoes evenly in the dish. Top with half the chopped onions, minced garlic, diced ham, and grated Gruyère cheese. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, thyme, and a pinch of nutmeg.
03 - Repeat layering with remaining potatoes, onions, ham, and cheese. Season again with salt, pepper, thyme, and nutmeg.
04 - Pour heavy cream evenly over the assembled layers. Dot the surface with remaining butter.
05 - Cover dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
06 - Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbling.
07 - Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
